Chromecast is a Google-developed digital media player that streams audio and video content directly via Wi-Fi. In order to use a Chromecast in conjunction with your Cipafilter, you will need to disable content filtering for the Chromecast and create firewall rules to allow the Chromecast to communicate out. To get started, you will need to find the IP address of your Chromecast.

Find the Chromecast's IP:

From your Chrome Browser's Chromecast extension, click Options, then select your Chromecast and click Edit. You should also be able to access your Chromecast network information from the Chromecast App in Windows 8.

Because you will need to disable content filtering for the Chromecast, it is highly recommended that you create a static DHCP reservation for the Chromecast.

Firewall:

If you are using your Cipafilter as a Drop-mode firewall, you will need to open ports per the following:

UDP: 80,443,1900,123 from chromecastIP to 0.0.0.0/0

TCP: 80,443,5228 from chromecastIP to 0.0.0.0/0

Save and apply your changes to the Firewall page.

Content Filter:

Under Internet Filtering -> Content Filtering -> Basic Configuration Tab, create a new content filtering rule for your Chromecast's IP address (x.x.x.x/32 to indicate a single IP) and set the Transparent Proxy setting to "Disable." The subnet group that you select will not matter, as the Disable setting causes the IP to completely bypass the content filter.
