How To - Unblock Teamviewer
Posted by , Last modified by Jim Giseburt on 21 July 2017 03:58 PM

TeamViewer is a proprietary system for remote control desktop sharing, web conferencing and meetings, and file sharing between clients. It provides the capability to access a remote host that is running TeamViewer via a web browser. TeamViewer uses 2048-bit RSA private/public key exchange and 256-bit AES session encryption.

SOLUTION

Web Filtering

TeamViewer.com is blacklisted as part of our "Filter Circumvention > Remote Access" category.

  • In order for TeamViewer to function correctly with the Cipafilter, you can add teamviewer.com to the approprioate group's Manual Whitelist, or add teamviewer.com to the Automatic Blacklist Exemptions section of the Global Configuration tab on the Group Permissions page.

Group Permissions > Global Configuration > Automatic Blacklist Exemptions

  • If a generic whitelist entry is not sufficient, it may be necessary to add teamviewer.com to the Super Whitelist to bypass authentication requests.

Firewall

  • It may also be necessary to create a firewall rule to allow outbound TCP traffic over port¬†5938.
