How To - Block Hola
Posted by Jesse Cross, Last modified by Jim Giseburt on 21 July 2017 04:01 PM

Hola is a VPN proxy service that allows users to circumvent blocking and access restrictions.  As of Hola version 1.4.450, the app primarily connects on ports 6851 and 6861 to multiple different IP addresses. The easiest method for blocking access is to create a drop firewall rule to block TCP traffic on those ports.

SOLUTION

1.  Add hola.org to the appropriate blacklist group via the Group Permissions page.  You can also blacklist it globally by adding it to the Global Blacklist.

2.  On the Stateful Firewall page, create a DROP entry for all traffic outbound on TCP ports 6851 and 6861.  See example below.
