Cipafilter Email Archiving with Google Apps

Cipafilter E-mail Archiving is compatible with Google Apps for Education, Google Apps for Business and Google Apps for Government.  Cipafilter E-mail Archiving is not compatible with the free editions of Google Mail.

Please note:  To configure Cipafilter Anti-Spam and Email Archiving please refer to Configuration of Anti-Spam and Email Archiving with Google Mail (Gmail).

Cipafilter Configuration

All Cipafilter E-mail Archiving configuration settings are on the Anti-Spam page of the Cipafilter.

Under Additional E-mail Settings, select Rcpt: cipafilter_email_archive for the E-mail Archive setting.  This setting is designed to work with e-mail journaling support.

After these settings have been saved, restart the Cipafilter.

Google Apps Configuration

Google Apps configuration is performed in the Google Admin Control Panel.  Under Google Apps > Settings for Gmail > Advanced Settings, three setting changes are required.

First, add a mail route with the Hosts tab by selecting Add route.

In the Add mail route dialog, specify the Cipafilter as the email server using TCP port 25.  Under Options, uncheck Require CA signed certificate and Require TLS delivery.

Second, on the General Settings tab, add a Receiving routing rule.  Begin by clicking on Configure.

In the Add setting dialog, under Receiving routing, enter a short description.  Under Email messages to affect, select Inbound and Internal - receiving.

Under For the above types of messages, do the following, select Add more recipients and specify cipafilter_email_archive@cipafilter.domain.com where cipafilter.domain.com is the DNS name associated with the Cipafilter.

Please note:  By default, under Advanced, the settings for Do not deliver spam to this recipient and Suppress bounces from this recipient are selected.  Both of these settings are preferred.

Third, on the General Settings tab, add a Sending routing rule.  Begin by clicking on Configure.

In the Add setting dialog, under Sending routing, enter a short description.  Under Email messages to affect, select Outbound and Internal - sending.

Once these settings are saved, delivery of email to the Cipafilter E-mail Archive will begin.
