Certificate Errors with Firefox and SSL Decryption
Posted by , Last modified by on 26 February 2015 03:45 PM

SSL Decryption requires the use of a self-signed certificate, which is generated on the Cipafilter and can be pushed out to domain devices as Group Policy in Active Directory. When deployed in this manner on Windows devices, Chrome and Internet Explorer will both make use of the certificate store to allow trusted connections to SSL sites through the Cipafilter.

Firefox, however, uses its own certificate store, and users of that browser will encounter certificate security warnings when attempting to access HTTPS sites on a network using SSL Decryption.

If your users intend to browse the internet with Firefox, it will be necessary to install the certificate explicitly for the Firefox browser. Please see our article on Firefox SSL Certificate Installation for instructions.
