Introducing Cipafilter 11.2
Posted by Jim Giseburt on 19 July 2019 09:42 AM
Our team is excited to introduce the latest version of Cipafilter!  We've worked hard to bring you the best in firewall, filtering, and reporting technology.

SSL tarpit

Historically, a common performance issue has been the repeated flooding of invalid HTTPS connections by unauthenticated or misconfigured devices.  Cipafilter 11.2 can now proactively defend itself by detecting abusive devices and temporarily slowing them down, preserving the performance of valid connections and your network.

Web-management improvements

A number of Web-management pages have been enhanced, including Network Diagnostics, Log Viewer, Firmware Updates, and Super Whitelist.  List entries on Group Permissions and other pages now support simple wildcards.  Other minor visual and organizational improvements appear throughout the interface.

SSL error reporting

Successfully implementing SSL decryption is the key to making the most of your Cipafilter, but it occasionally causes difficulties with legacy devices or sites.  Our new SSL error reporting can help you quickly track down and address these issues.

More Web-reporting improvements

Many more improvements have been made to Web reporting — site favicons, improved search reporting, improved auto-complete, and more.

Request an upgrade

Due to the expected high volume of requests, we will be rolling out upgrades in waves to ensure that everything goes as smoothly as possible.  Contact Cipafilter Support today to request a firmware upgrade date and take advantage of these new features.

Oops - We made a mistake!
Posted by Jim Giseburt on 06 June 2019 05:34 PM
Oops...  You may have received an email invitation to our new customer self service portal.  The only thing is, it is not ready.  We ran a test to see about importing your old tickets into the new system.  This test inadvertently sent each of you an invitation to use the new system.

Please be advised that we have not implemented this new system as of now.  It is still in the testing phase.  The new system is not being monitored by our support team and all tickets submitted to the new system will not be addressed.  We apologize for any difficulties that this error may have caused you.

For the time being, please continue to call support, email, or access our current portal at

Move along...

But, the cat is kinda out of the bag... we will be transitioning to a new system in the very near future.

Stay tuned!

Google API Change impacting Google OAuth Authentication - March 31st
Posted by Jim Giseburt on 26 March 2019 01:03 PM
In an effort to improve data privacy and security, on March 31st Google is implementing changes to some of the policies within their API ecosystem.  These changes will affect customers that use Google OAuth as an authentication method with Cipafilter.

Prior to that date, customers should upgrade the firmware on their Cipafilter to version 11.  Once the firmware has been updated, customers can then make the necessary changes within their Google domain to allow the continued use of Google OAuth as an authentication method with Cipafilter.  The configuration changes are detailed in the Cipafilter version 11 manual under Google OAuth.  Customers are advised to consult Google OAuth initial setup and pay particular attention to enabling the People API.

Please contact Cipafilter Support with any questions that you may have.
